How to Have a Quarantine Birthday Party

HOW TO MAKE A BIRTHDAY EXTRA SPECIAL DURING A QUARANTINE!

Yes, a quarantine may not be ideal. Nobody wants to be cooped up at home, with the spring weather rolling in, spring break plans that you looked forward to all winter, now cancelled. Most importantly, what about all of those March and April birthdays?  At Scene75, we believe NO birthday should go without a proper celebration, even if it takes a little creativity to make it happen.

In a time where parents are now juggling the roles of full time teacher, housekeeper and entertainer while also balancing working from home, it can be tough to come up with even more ways to continue turning this negative into a positive for your children. We are here to help. We are birthday experts at Scene75 and we know a little something about taking every day activities to the next level. We want to help you make this year’s birthday a special event even when you are social distancing in your homes and resources are tight.

So, we’ve come up with a list of some fun birthday activities to enjoy from home, including homemade slime, birthday fudge, a birthday treasure hunt, and more! Together we will get through this while learning something along the way about how much we can get out of life during times where it seems that there is so little.

Quarantine Cake

The grocery store situation is… intense right now to say the least. There are shortages, item limits and above all we want to avoid going there as much as possible. It might be difficult to find basic items like milk and eggs at your local grocery store. But have no fear, using 3 simple, and easier to find ingredients we think you can make Birthday FUDGE that is sure to be just as loved as Birthday Cake.
  • 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup butter

Just add combine all of the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl, warm in microwave on medium until everything is melted, about 3-5 minute. Be sure to stir about every minute so that the chocolate melts well!

Pour mixture into well-greased 8×8-inch glass baking dish and refrigerate until solid!

Lucky for you, nobody is waiting in line to get into the grocery store to by candles and sprinkles! Adding those little touches will help make this Quarantine Cake feel like a real birthday treat!

EASY HOMEMADE SLIME

Birthday activities just need to be engaging and memorable. Your child has probably seen slime videos and has watched other kids create and play with the gooey and brightly colored slime. How fun would be if THEY could make it? All you need is 4 household ingredients to make fun, bright and most importantly, non-toxic and easy to clean up SLIME!
  1. Elmer’s Glue
  2. Baking soda
  3. Contact solution
  4. Food coloring

Here’s a short Youtube video that will walk you through the process!

LET'S SHOW EVERYONE WE CAN STILL MAKE THE BEST OUT OF SPRING BIRTHDAYS!

Whether you are enjoying these activities, or celebrating at home how you know best, take a photo of your birthday party and we will share your special day to our feed with a shoutout! You can submit your photos by emailing them to info@scene75.com with a short description!

This way we can encourage other kids stuck at home to look at this situation as a positive one. The March and April birthday boys and girls have an extra special birthday this year. They get to celebrate TWICE! One cozy quarantine party at home filled with intimate memories with family and one re-do party once everything get’s back to normal. We think that’s something worth celebrating.

PRESENT TREASURE HUNT

Due to having to suddenly hunker down in our homes with little idea of when it would stop… there’s a chance  you weren’t able to get ALL of the big ticket items your birthday kids were looking forward to this year. Let’s make the most out of what you do have!
Instead of just handing them their wrapped presents, we suggest making a game out of it! Hide the presents around the house and leave clues leading them to their gifts!
  1. Create or print out clues here!
  2. Hide your clues throughout the house so that one clue leads to another.
  3. Place a birthday present at the final destination! You’ve found the treasure!!

BUILD A BLANKET FORT

Remember rainy days, long before tablets and smartphones where we had to make due with the items in our bedroom?

It’s time to tap into a little bit of those memories. Your kid will love the opportunity to transform the entire living room into a pillow fort… actually let’s go big for the birthday. Let’s make a PILLOW CASTLE!

Gather all pillows and blankets in the house, and maybe even a few chairs! Grab the holiday lights out of storage and wrap them around the tops of the chairs!

Pop on their all time favorite movie, grab some of those quarantine snacks you managed to get, play a board game, or have a fun fort battle! Keep it up for as long as you want, for endless entertainment! Need some inspiration? Here’s one way to make a super cozy fort!

SCHEDULE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY SING-ALONG

There has never been a more important time to stay in touch with friends and family. We may have to keep our distance, but we should still socialize!

What better way to celebrate a birthday, then to schedule a special birthday singalong Facetime or Skype Party!

Everyone can sing happy birthday, even from far away! It’s sure to make everyone’s day a bit brighter seeing a familiar smile!

Here’s a helpful page that walks seniors through using either Facetime or Skype, so that grandma and grandpa can be sure to be included in the fun!

MAKE PLANS FOR POST QUARANTINE FUN

Let’s make a promise to go out and enjoy all of the privileges we had taken for granted before the quarantine! Kids like having something to look forward to and there’s no better way to track it than writing it all down and sticking it on the fridge.

Ask them all the things they want to do this summer and how would they like to celebrate their re-do birthday!

Family Entertainment Centers are a great place to host a great birthday celebration and we at Scene75 have plenty of them to do to wear down that cooped up energy. Go-karts, inflatables, laser tag… you name it, we’ve got it.

Scene75 has been consistency rated above average standards for cleanliness well before the quarantine and have been using this downtime to further increase our touch points of sanitation and team training so you can rest assured that your child and all of their friends will be able to play in a clean and safe environment.

Email your local Scene75 Party Office to start planning your Re-Do Birthday party now and we will be sure that you are one of the first families booked post quarantine!

WE HOPE YOU HAVE FUN!

We hope this list of activities helps you turn a negative into a really fun positive! We all have to get a little creative to get through this crazy time and make it a time of joy and social connection. Just tell your birthday child to look at it this way… They get two birthdays this year! One quarantine party and then a celebration once they can be around all of
their friends again!
Be sure to send your birthday memories to info@scene.com so that we can post them to our Facebook and show all of the other birthday kids that they can still have a birthday party too! We are together even as we are apart!
