5 Fun options in Dayton for your Staycation

Day light savings time is here, kids are out for spring break, but of course, the weather hasn’t turned quite yet. That’s just what it is living in Dayton in the early ‘Spring’ of Spring Break. If you decided to do more of a staycation this year and find things to do in your own backyard this list will be perfect. We put together a few ideas for fun things to do to entertain the kids this Spring Break.

The Boonshoft Museum

The Boonshoft always has amazing exhibits for the curious kids you may have. From tidal pools with live sea stars, sea anemones, and sea cucumbers, to their planetarium space shows introducing you to the wonders of the universe, to all sorts of interactive science experiments with slime, electricity and more, there’s unique and creative fun for all ages. And don’t miss out on their current special exhibit, ‘Explorers!’ a venture to far-flung corners of Earth at this exhibition that charts a course through five geographic regions, ranging from Japan and Egypt to the Philippines, Ecuador, and the American Plains.

Urban Krag

If you’re looking for a fun activity that’s going to burn off all of their energy, Urban Krag is the place. We would vote it’s the best indoor climbing wall in Dayton with 8000 square feet of climbing space and heights all the way up to 56 feet. If heights aren’t your kids thing, don’t worry, they’ve also got an extremely large ‘bouldering’ section that allows the kids to climb easy and hard routes with a max of 12 feet. For a fun and physical activity during spring break, Urban Krag is your spot.

Scene75 Entertainment Center

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Scene75 as a go to spot for spring break this year. Recently awarded the #1 Entertainment Center in North America, there’s fun for ages all ages. With 14 different attractions, including, a bar and grill, it’s the perfect spot for a whole day of fun. Zip around our go-kart track, bounce around on one of our inflatables, find the perfect hiding spot in laser tag to beat your kids, or have some fun in one of our other entertainment options including blacklight mini-golf, bumper cars, virtual reality and more!

Airforce Museum

Not going to the Airforce museum more when I grew up in Dayton was always one of my biggest regrets. Thanks, Mom! All kidding aside, the Airforce museum is a world renowned museum right here in Dayton, Ohio. It’s got amazing exhibits with movies made especially for the museum about the history of the wright brothers, the evolution of flight and all sorts of cool topics. Who says Spring Break can’t teach the kids something! And don’t forget about the flight simulators where your kids can test their mettle as a pilot.

Decoy Art Studio

Need a creative release? A family friendly activity? Paint your own pottery, glass, slate, canvas or t-shirts at Decoy Art Studio. No hidden fees or prices, just pick the item that you want to paint and the price for that item includes everything you’ll need. If you haven’t done something like this before, you’d be surprised how much your kids will take care of the item they made. When it’s a vase you made, all bets are off, but when they’ve hand painted it, it becomes an item that’s truly special to them.
